The Smart Power Grid is being deployed to deliver more efficient and clean electric power generation / distribution, while allowing the average customer to be more involved in their choices to contribute towards clean energy and fossil fuel independence. Consumers can now choose to deploy home energy management technologies to optimize their usage patterns as well as store and generate their own clean power. Electric and Plug-in Hybrid cars are now available to reduce dependence on foreign oil and ultimately use clean electric power. Electric Vehicle infrastructure and alternative power generation and fuels such as Wind, Solar, Nuclear, Biodeisels, Fuel Cells, Ethanol, etc. are a critical part of this equation. However, without energy policy at a Local, State, Federal and Global level, we will see slow adoption and the increased use of dirty power generation - 70% of the US electric power generation comes from fossil fuels.
